The history of the piano traces back more than 3 centuries. An Italian harpsichord builder named Bartolomeo Cristofori produced a breakthrough technological advance – a new mechanism for the harpsichord - which gave it the ability to be played with dynamic variations. He called this touch-sensitive invention “gravicembalo col piano e forte,” or “harpsichord with soft and loud.” But for centuries before Bartolomeo Cristofori came along, there were two keyboards widely in use during a parallel era that began in the 1400s. These were the clavichord and the harpsichord. Each had its own strengths, which made it popular for specific venues and music styles, and it was these which eventually led to the piano. The piano is one of the most popular instrument played.

Today, it is most often used in the classical music settings. Keyboards, which are sort of an electronic version of the piano are more popular with bands because they are much smaller, lighter and easily transported to venues for use.Whether you play or use a piano or keyboard, Video Surgeon can assist you by allowing you to slow down video, zoom in, and isolate a segment off video for repeated playing. This allows you to not only hear what is being played but also to see it. Moreover, one can see each finger and HOW it is being used in the playing. The videos below will give you a glimpse into the benefits of using Video Surgeon to help you break down any piano video and better understand how it is being played.

In addition to the above, Video Surgeon also has a looping capability which allows users to isolate a segment of a video for repetitive playing – and then to apply zooming and video slow motion – and to do ALL of this in the split screen mode.
